Born For A Purpose

God created each of us for a reason, and no one is here by accident. Just as He used Esther to save her people, He can use you to make a difference in your home, school, church and community.

The Lesson

You are here for a reason

By Deaconess Donna Carrington · 2 min read

Have you ever wondered why you are here or what God has planned for your life? Sometimes, as young people, you may feel unnoticed, unimportant, or unsure of what the future holds. We may compare ourselves to others and wonder if we are good enough. But here is the truth: God created you for a purpose!

You are not a mistake, and your life is not an accident. God has given you gifts, talents and abilities that He can use to make a difference in the world. You may not know your purpose yet, but that does not mean you do not have one.

Look at Esther in the Bible. She was a young Jewish woman who became queen of Persia. When her people faced the threat of destruction, Esther had to decide whether she would remain silent or stand up for them. Her cousin Mordecai reminded her that perhaps she had become queen for that very moment.

Esther 4:14 says, “And who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”

Esther discovered that her position was not just about wearing a crown or living in a palace. God used her courage to help save her people!

Young people, your purpose may not involve wearing a crown, but God can use you right where you are. He can use you at school to stand up against bullying, at home to show love and respect, in church to encourage others, and among your friends to share His word.

Do not allow fear, mistakes, rejection or the opinions of others to convince you that you cannot do something meaningful. God can use your experiences, your testimony, and even your struggles to help someone else.

Remember, discovering your purpose takes time. Pray, study God’s word, develop your talents, and choose to do what is right. You do not have to wait until you are an adult to make a difference. Start today!

Scripture to remember

Jeremiah 29:11 (KJV): “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”

Real Talk

Your life matters

Let’s talk for real! Have you ever looked at someone else and wished you could be more like them? Maybe they are popular, talented, have lots of friends, or seem to have everything figured out. Have you ever wondered, “What makes me special? What is my purpose?”

Well, Youth Talks family, here is the truth: you don’t have to be someone else to be somebody! God created you uniquely, and your life has value.

Sometimes life can make you feel forgotten. You may face rejection, struggle with school, experience problems at home, or feel as though nobody understands you. But your circumstances do not determine your worth, and your mistakes do not erase God’s ability to work in your life.

Think about Esther. She was a young woman who probably never imagined that she would become queen and help save her people. Yet when the moment came, she had to find the courage to stand up for what was right. Her story reminds us that sometimes our purpose becomes clearer when we are willing to step out in faith.

You are not an accident. You are not a copy of someone else. You are God’s creation, with gifts to develop and a life that matters. Your journey may look different from everyone else’s, but you can walk in God’s purpose for you.

You do not need to have your whole future figured out today. Keep praying, learning, growing, and making wise choices. Do not let peer pressure push you into becoming someone you were never meant to be. You were created to shine in your own way!

Words to live by: Ephesians 2:10 (KJV), “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works.”

When you feel like you don’t measure up, what do you usually do?

A Poem About Me

A heart so strong, a soul so bright,
A beautiful spirit, full of light.
A little stubborn, a little wild,
With a caring heart and a playful smile.

Behind those eyes, there’s so much untold,
A thousand stories, both brave and bold.
Through every struggle, through every scar,
She keeps on shining, just as she are.

A lover of deeply, a fighter at heart,
Even when life tries to tear her apart.
She gives her all, sometimes too much,
And finds comfort in a gentle touch.

She’s got big dreams and a will so strong,
Even when things seem to go wrong.
Still learning, growing, finding her way,
Becoming stronger with every day.

She’s not perfect, and that’s okay,
She’s finding herself along the way.
A rare kind of soul, one of a kind,
With a beautiful heart and a powerful mind.

Poem: Born For A Purpose

I am not here by chance or by mistake,
God has a plan for the life I make.
He gave me gifts, He gave me light,
And walks beside me day and night.

I may be young, I may be small,
But with my God, I can stand tall.
I don’t need fame or the world’s applause,
I live to serve Him and honour His cause.

Like Esther, I’ll be brave and stand,
Like David, I’ll trust God’s mighty hand.
When life gets hard and I feel afraid,
I’ll trust the plans my God has made.

I won’t compare or wish to be
Someone else God didn’t create me to be.
For I am special, wonderfully made,
And in His love, I will not fade.

My past won’t stop what I can become,
With God beside me, the victory’s won.
I’ll use my voice, my gifts, my heart,
And do my best to play my part.

So let the world see the light I bring,
With faith in God, I’ll rise and sing.
My life has meaning, my future is sure,
With God beside me, I’ll stand secure.

I was created, I am loved,
I have a purpose from God above.
I’ll walk by faith in all I do,
And live each day to honour You!

God in Our Lives

God is with us every day,
He guides our steps along the way.
Through joy and sorrow, near or far,
His love reminds us who we are.
When life is hard and hope feels small,
God gives us strength to face it all.
