Hey, Youth Talks family! Have you ever found yourself doing something you knew was wrong simply because everyone else was doing it? Maybe your friends pressured you to gossip, cheat, make fun of someone, or go along with something that did not feel right.
You wanted to say no, but you were afraid they might laugh at you, call you boring, or stop being your friends. Let’s be real! Sometimes we care so much about fitting in that we forget to ask ourselves whether our choices please God.
But here is the truth: everybody is not always right just because everybody is doing it! God has not called you to copy the crowd. He has called you to live according to His word. You can love your friends, enjoy yourself, and still have the courage to say no when something is wrong.
Remember Daniel? He made up his mind to honour God even when he was living in Babylon (Daniel 1:8). If Daniel could stand firm in a difficult environment, you can ask God to help you stand firm at school, at home, online, and wherever you find yourself.
Real-life situation: what would you do? Imagine this! You are in a group chat with your friends. Someone posts an embarrassing picture of another student, and everybody begins laughing and making cruel comments. One of your friends tells you, “Come on, join in! Don’t act so holy!” You know it is wrong, but you do not want to become the next person they make fun of.
Vote in the poll, and ask yourself why you made that choice.
What is God saying to you? Do not let peer pressure decide who you become. Let God’s word guide your decisions. You do not have to be rude or judgmental toward people who make different choices, but you can lovingly stand firm in your own beliefs.
A final word: To all you young people, never sacrifice your values just to fit in. The right friends will respect your boundaries, and even when others do not understand your choices, God can give you the strength to stand firm.
You were created to make a difference, not simply to follow the crowd. Be brave enough to say no, humble enough to show kindness, and wise enough to choose God’s way. Remember: it takes courage to follow the crowd, but sometimes it takes even greater courage to stand apart.
