Youth embracing each other with love

By Deaconess Donna Carrington · 3 min read

In a world where division and loneliness are becoming more common, young people have the opportunity to make a difference by embracing one another with genuine love. Love is more than kind words. It is shown through respect, compassion, forgiveness, and a willingness to support others, even when they are different from us.

The word of God teaches us that every person is created in the image of God and deserves to be treated with dignity and kindness. When we choose to encourage rather than criticise, include rather than exclude, and forgive rather than hold grudges, we reflect the love of Christ.

Embracing one another with love also means celebrating each other’s strengths, helping those who are struggling, and standing together during difficult times. A simple act of kindness, a listening ear, or an encouraging word can brighten someone’s day and even change their life.

Jesus said, “By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another” (John 13:35). As youth in society today, you are called to be examples of God’s love in your homes, churches, schools and communities. When youth embrace each other with love, they build friendships that last, create stronger communities, and inspire others to do the same. Love has the power to unite hearts, overcome differences, and bring hope to a world that needs it more than ever.

Getting to know God

“Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.” (James 4:8)

Life is full of questions about purpose, identity and the future. When we are young, we often search for answers in friends, social media or personal achievements. While these things may bring temporary satisfaction, true fulfilment comes from getting to know God.

Knowing God is more than simply believing that He exists. It is about building a personal relationship with Him through prayer, reading His word, and trusting Him in everyday life. Just as friendships grow through spending time together, our relationship with God grows when we make time to seek Him.

The Bible reveals God’s character. It shows that He is loving, faithful, merciful, and always ready to guide those who seek Him. Jeremiah 29:13 says, “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” This reminds us that God wants to be known by us.

Getting to know God also changes the way we live. He gives us wisdom to make good choices, strength during difficult times, and a peace that cannot be found anywhere else but in Him. As we grow closer to Him, we become more compassionate, more forgiving, and more confident in our purpose.

No matter your past or where you are in your faith journey, God invites you to know Him personally. Take a few moments each day to pray, read His word, and listen for His guidance. The greatest adventure you will ever begin is a lifelong relationship with the One who created you and loves you unconditionally. When you have that, you will want to share it with others, so tell someone about the One who created you and let them get to know Him too.
