Youth Talks (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is a Christian youth community in Barbados. We started in April 2026 as a WhatsApp channel and now also publish a weekly edition, activities and discussions at ouryouthtalks.com. Many of the people who use our site are young people, so we try to collect as little as possible, keep it safe, and explain clearly what happens to it. This policy covers our website. Our WhatsApp channel is covered in its own section below.

Who we are

Youth Talks is a personal ministry founded and led by Donna Carrington, connected to Wings of an Eagle Ministries in Barbados. Youth Talks is responsible for the personal information collected through this website.

Information you give us

You don’t need an account to use our website. We only receive personal information when you choose to fill in one of our forms or reply to a discussion.

Creative Corner (Share With Us page): what you’re sending (art, photo, poem, story or something else), your upload (JPG, PNG or PDF) or typed text, an optional title, your first name, your age group (under 13, 13 to 15, 16 to 17, or 18 or over), a parent or guardian’s OK if you’re under 18, and your confirmation that you made it yourself and that we can share it with your first name.

Testimony: an optional title, your testimony, how you want to be credited (your name or anonymous), the name you’d like shown, an optional phone number or email address, and your consent for us to publish it. Your phone number or email is seen only by our team, in case we have a question before publishing. It is never published.

Topic suggestion: your topic idea, optional extra notes and an optional first name.

Prayer request: your request and an optional first name. Only our prayer team sees prayer requests. They are never published.

Recipe photo (“Made it? Show us!”): a photo of your dish (JPG or PNG) and an optional first name.

Parent and guardian contact form (For Parents page): your name, email address, an optional phone or WhatsApp number, what your message is about, and your message.

Discussion replies: your reply and an optional name. Replies are anonymous. We don’t ask for an email address, and we don’t store your email or IP address with your reply.

Some forms also send us the title of the edition you were reading, so we know which week your submission relates to.

Please keep personal details to a minimum. Don’t include your surname, school, address or phone number in a submission or discussion reply unless a form specifically asks for it.

Prayer requests, testimonies and sensitive information

Prayer requests and testimonies are, by their nature, about your faith and your life, and they may include things like health, family or personal struggles. Under Barbados law this can count as sensitive personal data. By sending a prayer request or testimony, you agree to us using it for that purpose only: praying for you, or reviewing and publishing your testimony the way you chose. We treat this information with extra care, limit who can see it, and never share prayer requests outside the prayer team.

If you or someone else is in danger, please don’t use a website form. Contact emergency services (Police 211, Ambulance 511) or a trusted adult straight away.

Young people and parental consent

Youth Talks is made for young people, and we take their safety seriously.

  • Creative Corner: if you’re under 18, we need a parent or guardian’s OK, given on the form, before we share your work on the website or WhatsApp channel. Work sent without the required consent boxes ticked is kept private and never published.
  • What we publish: when we feature a young person’s work or testimony, we use only a first name (or “anonymous” if requested). We never publish surnames, schools, contact details or age.
  • Moderation: every discussion reply and submission is checked by our team before it appears on the site.
  • Parents and guardians: you can ask us to remove your child’s published work or delete their submissions at any time by emailing info@ouryouthtalks.com.

Information collected automatically

When you visit our site, we and our service providers automatically collect some technical information, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, time on site, approximate location (country or city level) and how you arrived at the site.

Games and activities: features like the Daily Bible Wordle, the weekly Find Luke hunt, polls and “This or That” votes count results anonymously (for example, “Luke has been found 4 times this week”). Your own progress, such as your Wordle streak or whether you’ve found Luke, may be saved in your browser on your device so it’s remembered next time. This stays on your device and isn’t linked to your name.

How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • Read, review and respond to your submissions and messages
  • Pray for prayer requests
  • Feature creative work, recipe photos and testimonies in an edition, the Creative Corner feed or our WhatsApp channel, only with the consent given on the form
  • Plan future topics and discussion questions
  • Reply to parents and guardians who contact us
  • Moderate discussions and keep the site free of spam and abuse
  • Understand how the site is used so we can improve it
  • Keep the website secure and meet our legal obligations

We don’t use your information for advertising, and we don’t build profiles of visitors.

Forms and how submissions are handled

Our forms are run by Forminator, a form plugin on our website. When you submit a form, your submission is stored in our website’s database and sent by email to the Youth Talks team. Uploaded files are stored on our website and attached to that email.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics (through Google Site Kit) to understand how people use our website, such as which pages are visited, for how long, on what kind of device, and roughly where visitors are located. Google Analytics uses cookies to do this. We use these numbers only in summary form to improve the site.

reCAPTCHA and spam protection

Our forms use Google reCAPTCHA v3, which runs in the background to tell real people apart from bots. It collects device and browser information and sends it to Google for security analysis. Use of reCAPTCHA is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. Our forms and discussions also use hidden anti-spam checks and limits on how often replies can be posted.

Cookies and browser storage

We use cookies and similar browser storage to make the site work (for example, to remember your game progress), to measure traffic with Google Analytics, and to protect forms from spam. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but some features, such as game streaks, may not work as expected.

Our WhatsApp channel

Our WhatsApp channel is one-way: only two trusted adults can post, and followers can’t message each other there. WhatsApp is owned by Meta, and your use of WhatsApp is covered by WhatsApp’s own privacy policy. Content you send us through the website may be shared on the channel only where the form says so and you’ve given consent.

Sharing buttons and links to other sites

Our editions include buttons to share on WhatsApp, Facebook and X, and links to our WhatsApp channel and other sites. Nothing is sent to those services unless you tap the button or link. Once you do, their own privacy policies apply. Some pages may include embedded content (such as music or video players) from other services, which may collect information under their own policies.

How we share information

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.

We only share information with the services that help us run the website:

  • Our website hosting provider (stores the site and its database)
  • Forminator (form processing on our website)
  • Google (Analytics and reCAPTCHA)
  • Our email provider (for delivering form submissions to our team)

Some of these providers store or process information outside Barbados. We choose reputable providers that protect personal data. We may also disclose information if required by law, or where necessary to protect someone’s safety.

How long we keep information

  • Prayer requests: deleted within 60 days of being received.
  • Topic suggestions and parent messages: kept for up to 12 months, then deleted.
  • Creative Corner, recipe photos and testimonies we publish: kept as part of the edition they appear in, until you ask us to remove them.
  • Submissions we don’t publish: deleted within 12 months.
  • Testimony contact details (phone or email): deleted once the testimony is published or declined.
  • Discussion replies: kept while the discussion is on the site, unless you or a parent ask us to remove one.

Keeping your information safe

We limit access to submissions to the Youth Talks team, protect our accounts with strong passwords, and keep our website and plugins up to date. No website or email system is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and will act quickly if something goes wrong.

Your rights

Under the Barbados Data Protection Act, 2019, you have the right to ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to withdraw your consent at any time (for example, to have published work taken down). Parents and guardians can make these requests for their children.

To make a request, email info@ouryouthtalks.com. If you’re not happy with how we’ve handled your information, you can also contact the Data Protection Commissioner in Barbados.
